Africa ~ The very word evokes feelings of mystery, the exotic, and even a sense of romance. I was off on the trip of a lifetime, my dream trip, the one I never thought would really come true. But come true it did, and it was more than I could ever have imagined or hoped for. The animals I had seen on television or in zoos were mere feet in front of me; the landscape was a study of contrasts - mountains and hills rolling into vast plains of flatness; the arid, brown earth where you think absolutely nothing could live, dotted with trees and herds of gazelles or zebra. The people, who are truly some of the most amazing people on earth, live in this arid place, walking for miles and miles for water for themselves and the livestock off of which they live, with a smile and a wave for anyone they happen to pass.
